The device has a translation device transferring a pallet layer (14) or a partial layer from a provision position (16) to a stack position (12). An unloading device assigned with the translation device to transfer the pallet layer or the partial layer on a support surface or upper side of a previously deposited layer. Two parts of the translation device are arranged at different height levels and/or are arranged approximately parallel to each other during loading process and/or during transfer of the translation device to the stack position. An independent claim is also included for a method for conveying layers or partial layers of articles, cargos and bundles from a provision position to a stack position.
