PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide novel highly crystalline hexagonal boron carbide nitride having excellent thermal conductivity and a method for efficiently producing the same with high reaction rate.

SOLUTION: The hexagonal boron carbide nitride having graphitization index (GI) of 7.0 or less is provided. The method for producing the hexagonal boron carbide nitride in which boron carbide is heated 2,300 or higher and 2,500°C or less in an atmosphere including nitrogen is provided. The method for producing the hexagonal boron carbide nitride in which pressure of the atmosphere including nitrogen is 0.1 MPa or more and 1 MPa or less is provided. and a composition in which resin and/or rubber contains the hexagonal boron carbide nitride is provided.
