METHODS, DEVICES AND COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCTS for Gem-stone appraisal on a mobile device. The methods include the estimation of grades like e.g. cut grade, clarity grade, colour grade, etc. based on the dimensions of the gem-stone. This is done by computing cut angles and by simulating the propagation of light rays through the gemstone by ray tracing. The methods include receiving a plurality of gemstone values corresponding to a cut gemstone into a graphical user interface and displaying results to a mobile device user on a display of[$aid mobile device.
