<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for reducing noise in images obtained by use of a TV camera, including generation of a frame image stream from frame groups having mutual timing dependency, generation of images from an output frame series obtained by processing the frame groups, and use of an average value with a weighting coefficient taken into consideration. <P>SOLUTION: Frames are used for noise reduction which are time-symmetrically juxtaposed preceding and following in time a frame under processing. To choose one value from three values, difference coefficients of these values having the significance of the frame under processing are calculated. Next, a smallest difference coefficient is specified, and an appropriate pixel value is used for averaging purpose. During averaging, the selected pixel value is multiplied by a coefficient dependent on the extent of difference from the frame under processing. The amount of frames used in this method and dependency of function coefficients on the extent of difference from the frame under processing specify the parameters for noise reduction. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
