Mordants which consist of polyadducts containing structural units (I) (where n is 2 or 3), or containing these units in salt or quaternary form. Two examples are given, 1) describing the production of poly(2-vinyl-imidazoline) from 270 g. polyacrylonitrile and 1530 g ethylene diamine using 13.5 g thioacetamide as catalyst; 2) describing the production of poly(2-vinyl-3,4,5,6-tetrahydropyrimidinium chloride) from 159 g. polyacrylonitrile and 1110 g. propylene diamine. The mordants prevent lateral diffusion of acid dyes in the colloid layer, and sharpen the colour images, particularly in imbibition photographic processes. |
