摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a subject information acquiring apparatus acquiring information on a subject while reducing the number of steps required to acquire a light amount distribution. <P>SOLUTION: The subject information acquiring apparatus includes: a light source capable of generating light with a first wavelength and a light with a second wavelength different from the first wavelength; an acoustic wave detection unit detecting a photoacoustic wave generated by illuminating the subject with light and outputting a detection signal; and a signal processing unit acquiring the information on the subject based on a first detection signal output by the acoustic wave detection unit when the subject is illuminated with the light with the first wavelength and a second detection signal output by the acoustic wave detection unit when the subject is illuminated with the light with the second wavelength.
