A liquid-crystal display panel (100A) in an embodiment of the present invention is provided with the following: a first substrate (2) on which pixel electrodes (4) are formed; a second substrate (3) opposite the first substrate (2); and a liquid-crystal layer (1) held between the first substrate (2) and the second substrate (3). The liquid-crystal layer (1) extends to near at least one of the side surfaces of the liquid-crystal display panel (100A), and a black layer (52) contacts a side surface of the liquid-crystal layer (1) that extends to near at least one of the side surfaces of the liquid-crystal display panel (100A).
