PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To upgrade firm ware of an accessory detachably attached to a camera body via the camera body.

SOLUTION: Upgrade data stored in the camera body 100 is transmitted to an interchangeable lens 200 side via a body side contact BP4. Although the camera body 100 includes an attachment/detachment detection unit which determines that the interchangeable lens 200 is not attached when a body side contact BP6 is in an H level for a specified time period or more, the camera body 100 does not determine that the interchangeable lens 200 is not attached to the camera body 100. Instead, the camera body 100 can continue the upgrade.
