The method involves fixing the roof element (12) on a body (10) of the motor vehicle in a predetermined pre-assembly position through a clamping connection by a detachable fixing unit (24). The roof element is galvanically coupled with the body by a contact element (28,32), particularly a metallic screw or a rivet nut that is integrated in the fixing unit. The plate-like holding element (14) is placed on the roof element or the body before placing the fixing unit. The fixing unit is attached to the holding element. An independent claim is included for a connection arrangement for temporary fixing of a roof element on a body of a motor vehicle by a detachable fixing unit.
