The method involves passing a connecting pin (5) through a connection opening (4) formed by contacting the through-holes of through hole components (2,3) e.g. bimetal sheet and copper sheet. The connecting pin is contacted with one side of a current-carrying resistance welding electrode (7) along a longitudinal direction (9). The free ends (11) of the connecting pin in the connection opening, are clamped with the resistance welding electrodes and rivet heads are formed at the edges of connecting pin by applying compressive force with respect to connecting pin. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) device for carrying out mechanical connection of through hole components; (2) bimetal copper components; and (3) thermal over current trigger for electrical switch.
