<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the effect of a false contour which is generated when displaying in a time gradation system. <P>SOLUTION: One pixel is divided into m pieces of sub-pixels so that an area ratio of each sub-pixel becomes 2<SP POS="POST">0</SP>:2<SP POS="POST">1</SP>:2<SP POS="POST">2</SP>:....:2<SP POS="POST">m-3</SP>:2<SP POS="POST">m-2</SP>:2<SP POS="POST">m-1</SP>(m is an integer of m≥2), and one frame is divided into n pieces of sub-frames so that a ratio of a lighting period in each sub-frame becomes 2<SP POS="POST">0</SP>:2<SP POS="POST">m</SP>:2<SP POS="POST">2×m</SP>:....:2<SP POS="POST">(n-3)×m</SP>:2<SP POS="POST">(n-2)×m</SP>:2<SP POS="POST">(n-1)×m</SP>(n is an integer of n≥2). Then, the gray scale is represented by controlling a method of turning on each of the m pieces of sub-pixels in each of the n pieces of sub-frames. Also, the false contour effect can be further reduced by further dividing a sub-frame having the longest lighting period among the n pieces of sub-frames into two pieces of sub-frames having a half length of the lighting period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
