<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a peripheral device which can prevent program data supported by an old model peripheral device from being downloaded to a new model peripheral device from a host device, and also prevent a system including the peripheral devices from having failure. <P>SOLUTION: A peripheral device 3A capable of downloading program data of firmware from a host device 2 rewrites program data stored in the peripheral device 3A by program data transmitted from the host device 2 and returns a normal completion response of data rewriting to the host device 2, if a download file 7 stored in the host device 2 includes rewriting permission data for permitting rewriting the program data stored in the peripheral device 3A by the program data stored in the host device 2. If the download file 7 does not include the rewriting permission data, the peripheral device 3A does not rewrite the program data stored in the peripheral device 3A by the program data transmitted from the host device 2, and returns the normal completion response of data rewriting to the host device 2. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
