摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively inhibit vibration by a structure which can be materialized at low cost. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A vibration damping device includes a sensor 80 detecting vibration of a gas engine 10, an actuator 90 disposed on frames 70a-70d supporting the gas engine 10, and an actuating circuit actuating the actuator 90. The actuator 90 includes a magnetostrictive element disposed between the frames 70a, 70c and the gas engine 10, and a magnetic field coil generating a magnetic field around the magnetostrictive element. The sensor 80 includes a magnetostrictive element disposed at a position pressed, accompanying vibration of the gas engine 10, and a detection coil disposed around the magnetostrictive element. The actuating circuit actuates the magnetostrictive element of the actuator 90 by making a current based on an electromotive force generated at the detection coil according to the pressing force acting on the magnetostrictive element of the sensor 80 flow to the magnetic field coil of the actuator 90.
