Provided is an exhaust purification device for an internal combustion engine which prevents the occurrence of defects in the spraying of a reduction agent due to high heat when regeneration control of a particulate filter is executed. This exhaust purification device is equipped with: a cutoff unit that is capable of switching between a state wherein a reduction agent spraying valve is opened and a state wherein the valve is closed with respect to the flow of exhaust air that has passed through a particulate filter; and an electronic control unit that maintains the cutoff unit in a state wherein the cutoff unit opens the reduction agent spraying valve when regeneration control of the particulate filter is not being executed, and switches the cutoff unit to a state wherein the cutoff unit closes the reduction agent spraying valve when the particulate filter is being regenerated.
