The component (10) has a plastic paneling part (12) comprising a thermoplastic covering layer and fiber reinforced plastic layers with unidirectionally aligned fibers. A foam material element (16) is arranged between the paneling part and an inner region (14) of the component. The inner region is made of fiber reinforced plastic. The covering layer comprises mineral and/or nano and micro fillers. The covering layer comprises a UV-resistant, cataphoretically painted, water-repellent and/or electrostatic (ESTA) coated outer layer. The unidirectionally aligned fibers are made of fabric, which warp yarns of glass fiber strands or hybrid strands. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a covering component for a motor vehicle.
