The connection assembly has plastic deformation portions that are provided in rotor (10), for mutually coupling the ring segments (16,18) over the closure elements (24,26,40,42) in the axial direction of the rotor. The permanent magnets (14) are embedded in the respective through-holes (12) of rotor. The closure elements (40,42) are made to co-operate in circumferential direction of the rotor, to form a connection portion. An independent claim is included for method for connecting ring segments of rotor for electric machine.
