The method involves thermally exciting an excitation region of surface of component (1) using an excitation unit (5) such as infrared laser. The heat distribution in detection area of surface of components is detected using a detection unit (7) having thermal imaging camera (11). The evaluation of heat distribution is performed on predetermined pattern on surface of component for detecting faults in components.
