<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform power-saving control with higher power-saving effect by determining state shift instructions to different power-saving modes and performing control to switch appropriate power supply to first communication means or second communication means which communicate with an external device. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming device communicating with an external device via a network determines whether a received power-saving mode is a shift instruction to a first power-saving mode or a shift instruction to a second power-saving mode (S102 and S106). If it is determined as the state shift instruction to the first power-saving mode, the device restricts power supply to second communication means, and supplies power to first communication means (S103 and S105).
