<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-core fiber optic communication cable capable of accommodating more cores provided that the cable is laid out without sacrificing reliability thereof. <P>SOLUTION: A multi-core fiber optic communication cable 10 for propagating optical signals includes a clad 12, a single core 11a located at the center of the clad 12, and 7 to 10 cores 11b positioned in equal spacing surrounding the single core 11a. The outer circumference of the clad 12 shall be 230 μm or less and the center-to-center spacing between each of the adjacent cores 11a, 11b shall be 30 μm or more, while the spacing between each of the cores 11b and the outer circumference of the clad 12 shall be 35 μm or more. The mode field diameter of the light propagating through each of the cores 11a, 11b shall be 9 μm to 13 μm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
