<p>Provided is an organic electroluminescent element (organic EL element) having a simple configuration and exhibiting sufficient drive stability, wherein the luminance efficiency of the element is improved. An organic electroluminescent element having an organic layer containing a light emitting layer between a positive electrode and a negative electrode laminated on a substrate, wherein at least one layer of the organic layer contains a carbazole compound represented by formula (1). Favorably, the carbazole compound is contained in the light-emitting layer as a host material. In formula (1), A represents a direct bond or a group having a valency of n, E represents oxygen or sulfur, and n represents an integer between 2 and 4.</p> |
