Process for the producing Cl, Na2CO3, and NaNO3-NH4NO3. The process of the invention consists of the oxidn. of NaCl with HNO3, saturating the resulting soln. contng. NaNO3 and HNO3 with NH3 and carbonating with CO2 when NaHCO3 separates and may be converted to Na2CO3 by calcination in known manner. The Na and NH4 nitrates remaining in the soln. are obtained by evapn. and crystallisation. The neutralisation and saturation of the NaNO3 -HNO3 soln. from the NaCl oxidn. is regulated to give a product contng. not less than 70% NH4NO3 with a total N of over 30%. The gaseous reaction products consist of Cl, N oxides and nitrosyl chloride. The latter is absorbed and oxidised in conc. HNO3 and the cooled gas mixture of Cl and N oxides is sepd. into its components by rectification, the N oxides being worked up to HNO3.
|
