<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic component that can restrain unusual sounds while obtaining a high degree of freedom in a circuit design, and a selection method. <P>SOLUTION: A laminate body 11 is formed by laminating a plurality of ceramic layers 17, and has an upper face and a bottom face positioned at both ends in a z-axis direction, end faces opposed to each other, and side faces opposed to each other. Capacitor conductors 30, 32 are laminated together with the ceramic layers 17, and opposed to each other via the ceramic layers 17. A first external electrode and a second external electrode are provided on one end face and one side face, and connected to the capacitor conductor 30.
