<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of a bottleneck in the transfer of image data. <P>SOLUTION: Operation of a flat-panel detector 20 includes a readout step and a transmission step. In the readout step, a row readout step in which a prescribed signal is given to one gate line and pixel values are read from a plurality of pixels 31 corresponding to the gate line, is performed for all the gate lines. In the transmission step, a row transmission step in which the pixel values read in the row readout step is transmitted to an external device, is performed for all the gate lines. The pixel values (A1-A6) read in the first row readout step are transmitted to the external device by a communication unit 26 in the row transmission step performed in parallel with the second row readout step reading the pixel values (B1-B6).
