<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a selective slide type reverse mechanism capable of smoothing a reverse shift operation in an automatic transmission. <P>SOLUTION: The reverse mechanism 30 of the automatic transmission includes a reverse input gear 13, a reverse output gear 19, and a reverse idler gear 29, and switches the reverse idler gear 29 between a neutral position and a reverse position where it meshes with both the reverse input gear 13 and the reverse output gear 19. The reverse input gear 13 has a length for continuously meshing with the reverse idler gear 29. The reverse idler gear 29 can be moved from the neutral position also to the opposite side of the reverse position. The reverse idler gear 29 is moved to the reverse position after being temporarily moved from the neutral position to the opposite side of the reverse position when the reverse idler gear 29 is moved from the neutral position to the reverse position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
