<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a climbing device for a work machine, which is simply constructed to allow easy climb-up/-down between a catwalk and an undercarriage. <P>SOLUTION: A first step 23 is mounted on the side face of a catwalk 17. The first step 23 has one-stage treads 23c-23e between right and left side plate parts 23a, 23a. A second step 24 is mounted movably up and down while holding the first step at its right and left sides. The second step 24 has right and left side frames 24e, 24f, and one-stage treads 24b-24d between the lower parts of the right and left side frames. On the first step 23, a striker 31 is provided for removably fixing the second step 31 at least at its moved-up position.
