Disclosed is a biomarker of Hepatocellular cancer (HCC), in particular stem cell like HpSC HCC subtype, and methods of using the biomarker, including methods for treating or preventing the cancer, diagnosis of cancer, methods of determining predisposition to cancer, methods of monitoring progression/regression of cancer, methods of assessing efficacy of compositions for treating cancer, as well as other methods based on the use of this cancer biomarker.
