Heading C2C. 2,4-Dihydroxybenzophenone is prepared by reacting resorcinol with at least 2 moles of benzonitrile per mole of resorcinol in the presence of ZnCl 2 and HCl and thereafter hydrolysing the reaction product. The reaction is preferably carried out at about 10-85‹ C. and the hydrolysis suitably effected with water. |
