PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery offering excellent battery characteristics even under high-temperature environments.

SOLUTION: The nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and an electrolyte containing a nonaqueous electrolytic solution. The nonaqueous electrolytic solution contains at least one kind of phosphorus compound selected from the group consisting of phosphine oxides, phosphonate esters, and phosphinic esters. The phosphorus compound has a substituent having one or more unsaturated bonds, and the substituent has a carbon atom bonded to a phosphorus atom.
