D.C. transmission of supply to a particle accelerator, consists of a multilayer core cable with staggered voltages at the separate lines; the central conductor is under high tension whereas the external conductor supplies a reference potential. The device fed by the cable has terminals for each of the separate concentric conductors; as a particle accelerator it incorporates a number of accelerating electrodes each one corresponding to a concentric line of the cable. The central conducting core is in the form of a tube. |
