<p>A vehicle 100, particularly an electric vehicle, has a controller 150 for identifying the position that an electrical device 110 is mounted in the vehicle. The device may be an electric motor, particularly an in-wheel electric motor, and/or brake calliper and/or suspension device. The controller may provide torque and direction information to the electric motor based on identifiers associated with the motors. The vehicle includes a communication bus 160 coupled between the controller and the devices for allowing the controller to communicate with the plurality of electrical devices; and a plurality of signal lines 170, wherein each signal line is coupled between the controller and a respective electrical device for allowing the controller to enable and disable one or more functions of the respective electrical device. The electrical devices communicate over the same communication bus and are dynamically assigned unique communication bus identifiers which also provide information on the location or position of the device.</p> |
