A portable telecommunications application for smartphones, mobile telephones and similar devices, which programs the smartphone to record vehicle usage when installed in a vehicle. The data may be from the sensors of the smartphone. The recorded data can be used to determine driving behaviours for a driver and adjust an insurance premium accordingly. The recorded data can also be analysed to determine liability in the event of an accident. The recorded data can also be used to determine a fee to be charged based on usage, such as a taxi fare. Messages can be given to drivers based on the data in real-time, such a warning to reduce speed. In the event of an accident the application may be operable to provide a procedural protocol to record the event. |
