[Also in Divisions H1 and D2] An ink transfer coating composition comprises a resin selected from cellulose acetate-butyrate, cellulose acetatepropionate and half-second or alcohol soluble cellulose butyrate; a plasticizer selected from dioctyl azelate, glyceryl monoricinoleate, and di-(2-ethylhexyl) azelate; a solvent selected from n-propyl acetate, methyl ethyl ketone and ethanol; and a pigment capable of being dispersed in the resin/plasticizer/ solvent system. Specified pigments are carbon black, zinc oxide, magnetic iron oxide, iron and nickel alloys and ferrites. The iron oxide is preferably an alpha acicular oxide of particle size about 1 Á. The composition may be coated on backings of polyester, polyethylene or polypropylene film for use as a typewriter ribbon.</p> |
