The method involves adjusting a duty ratio of a fan of a cooking device in a standstill operating phase based on a function of temperature drop in a cooking chamber of the cooking device, where the duty ratio depends on a program that provides prolonged standstill phases for dry cooking or prolonged halt phases, cooking chamber temperature (T), or charging of the cooking device. The temperature drop is determined based on course of temperatures (T1-T3) in the cooking chamber during a standstill phase of the fan.
