<p>Large sized glass articles are produced by (a) forming a preform from PVC sheets or another clear plastic, by heating the sheets and placing them on a former corresponding with the large sized article, and compressing the sheets against the former so that the sheets become formed into shape and bonded together, and (b) providing the preform with cured and/or flat glass sheets on both sides, which are bonded to the plastics material. The preform is pref. made from two layers of plastic material, and a reinforcement consisting of a highly glossy material is placed between the two layers.</p> |
