1,272,936. Cooling liquids in transformer tanks. WASHINGTON ENG. Ltd. 27 Aug., 1969 [30 Aug., 1968], No. 41668/68. Heading F4S. In a transformer cooling system in which radiator units each consisting of hollow sections 6 extending between headers 7, 8 are joined by their respective headers to main headers 1, 2, the main headers are disposed in both vertically and horizontally spaced relation so that when the unit headers 7, 8 are connected at one of their ends to a main header 1 or 2 in the manner shown, the radiator unit is supported at diagonally opposite corners. In the arrangement shown the main headers are supported by framework 16-18 and the radiator units are additionally supported, e.g. against vibration, by a cross-member 20 connected between the framework 16 (and 17 Fig. 4) and the lower headers 8 of the units. The unit headers 7, 8 are supported on the main headers 1, 2 by studs (22, Fig. 5) which extend through open ended slots formed in flanges 9 on the unit headers, whereby only a vertical movement is necessary when removing or replacing a unit. The lower edges of the flanges 9 may rest on support lates (23, Fig. 7) projecting outwardly from the main headers. 13 is a fan for blowing coolant air over the radiator units, and 10, 11 are the pipes by which the cooling system is connected to the transformer tank (not shown). |
