A method and an apparatus for controlling a battery of multifunctional portable terminal are provided to maximize the use quantity of the battery by cutting off a power except a selected mode of a user. A method for controlling a battery of multifunctional portable terminal comprises the steps of: converting a mode by a command of a user(S202); converting a mode into a battery power management mode classified by modes(S204); cutting off an unnecessary power for the selected mode reproduction(S206); measuring and indicating the battery for the selected mode after cutting off the power(S208); and performing a power control in a system based on a predetermined reproducing time set by a user. The power control step comprises the steps of: setting the reproducing time; determining whether a battery quantity is sufficient for the set reproducing time; and reproducing a mode for the predetermined time with a minimum power if the battery quantity is sufficient. |
