A plurality of coreless sleeves, each formed by loosely winding spun yarn, are loaded without compression on to at least one perforated hollow holder 4 which is closed by a conical cap 25 and is mounted within a cylindrical dyeing chamber (Figs. 1 and 5) adapted to be used under pressure and at high temperature, the open end of the holder forming the dyeing liquid inlet or outlet of the chamber. The sleeves are supported at at each end by perforated discs 18 and 22 and externally by an elastic net. Disc 22 (which is removed for loading) is held in place by a pin 23 and engagement of rods 19 (attached to disc 18) with notches (21, Fig. 4) in disc 22. The apertures of the holder increase in diameter towards cap 25. The liquid is recycled externally of the chamber by means of a circulating pump. Two or more tanks may be included, in a single circuit with valves to permit at least one tank to be isolated (Figs. 6 and 7).</p> |
