摘要
1,184,843. Coin separator. NATIONAL REJECTORS Inc. 15 Feb., 1968 [13 March, 1967], No. 7554/68. Headings G4V and G4X. Apparatus for separating coins having milled peripheries from coins having non-milled peripheries comprises a coin passageway, a shoot for receiving non-milled coins leaving the passageway, a shoot for receiving milled coins leaving the passageway and disposed beyond the first mentioned shoot in the direction of coin travel, a separator intermediate the shoots, a movable element disposed in the passageway to engage the periphery of a coin moving along the passage whereby the coin is slowed, a milled coin being slowed to a greater extent than a non- milled coin, and a deflector positioned so that a non-milled coin leaving the passageway strikes the deflector and is directed into the non-milled coin shoot and so that a milled coin leaving the passageway will pass between the deflector and separator into the milled coin shoot. As described the apparatus is adapted to accept 10 and 25 cent pieces. A 10 cent coin falls between the fingers 161, 163 of a cradle 160 and is deflected by a member 174 through an opening in wall 20 to runways 106, 104 (Fig. 1) where its milled periphery is engaged by milling on the runway 104 and by a pivoted hook 76 to retard the coin which falls to the left of separator 130. Unmilled or smaller discs pass unchecked and rebound from projection 122 to fall to the right of separator 130. A 25 cent coin is directed by cradle 160 on to runway 182 where its milled periphery is engaged by milling on a weighted wheel 228, carried by a pivoted lever to brake the coin which falls to the right of separator 60, Fig. 4. Unmilled or smaller discs are not slowed and rebound from a deflector to pass to the left of the separator. Permanent magnets may be included in bosses 194, 196 and circular discs of magnetizable material mounted opposite on wall 20. In another modification a counterweighted lever having a pointed end is pivoted above the runway 182 to retard milled coins. Clearing apparatus.-An oversized disc on runway 104 is held by hook 76 engaging slot 71 in member 66. Initiation of the scavenging operation depresses roller 84 on scavenging lever 80 to rotate the lever about pivot 78 causing pin 86 to rotate lever 88 anti-clockwise, Fig. 1, into contact with roller 108 camming wall 98 rearwards. A link 92 secured to lever 88 rotates member 66 anti-clockwise causing hook 76 to move the disc to the right into the rejected coin shoot 118. A disc of larger diameter will contact a stud 44 causing a pendulum 42 to engage a stop 46 and hold the disc on the cradle. On clearing, lever 80 pivots to engage roller 180 and cam gate 146 away from wall 20 pushing the disc against one of the fingers of plate 202 and into the rejected slot 118.
