Separate lengths of fibres, e.g. of polyacrylonitrile, are placed in V-shaped grooves 2 in a tamplate 1 and impregnated with an epoxy resin, and the laying of the fibres is continued to provide an outermost layer bridging the grooves to produce a sheet of fibres having a ridged lower surface. The template may be annular in which case the fibres comprise separate turns of a common length; the thus produced cylindrical assembly is slit axially to form a flat sheet. |
