[Also in Division G3] A winch has a hook 6 which remains loaded in the downward direction when a boat is being raised in a heavy sea, the main winch motor 3 being stationary under these circumstances and an auxiliary motor 4 being controlled to follow the motion of the sea. The motor 4 is coupled to the winch-drum 1 through gearing 2 having a reduction ratio of 10 : 1, and is separatelyexcited, its field and armature currents being kept constant. A controllable rectifier bridge 8 for feeding the armature has a regulator 9 associated with current detector 10. Chokes 11 prevent mains interference. Reverse power is delivered to the mains when the motor 4 operates as a generator. |
