[Also in Division B5] A gussetted tube is welded and parted transversely to form bags with at least one side gusset, with an open mouth X-Y with spotwelds 4, 5 securing the gussets near the mouth, and with further welds 8, 9, 10 joining opposite sides of one of the gussets. After filling the mouth X-Y is sealed and the bag is turned so that the welds 8, 9, 10 are at the top, the opposite gusset opening to form a block bottom. The weld A-B may have a further weld adjacent and parallel to it to form a pocket (11) (Figs. 6 and 7, not shown) to receive a plastic "straw" with a pointed end. The gussetted tube may be built up by welding from superimposed strips. |
