发明名称 Sensitivity Disc Dispenser
摘要 1,190,109. Feeding sensitivity discs. BECTON, DICKINSON & CO. 29 Nov., 1967 [16 Feb., 1967], No. 14243/68. Divided out of 1,190,108. Heading B8S. [Also in Division C6] Sensitivity discs used in the laboratory study of microbiological cultures, growths and specimens, are ejected simultaneously from a battery of some 8 or 12 cartridges 48, Figs. 3 and 4, by the manual depression of a plunger 25 and the ejected discs descend down corresponding guideways 32 to settle within a Petri dish 55 in an accurate pattern and location e.g. with their centres at least 24 mm. apart. The depression of the plunger is translated through the angle member 27 into a limited horizontal (left-toright) displacement of a dispensing plate 36 within the confines of rectangular recesses in the stationary plates 28 and 31. Fingers (50, Figs. 5 to 7, not shown) on the dispensing plate eject the disc sideways from its cartridge into the adjacent guideway. The opening in the guideways tapers slightly inwardly from top to bottom and the axes are. flared outwardly. The cartridges are secured by their bridges, which fit into recesses in the plate 31, and by a lock plate 41 actuated by a thumb lock 44. The distance between the guideways and the Petri dish 55 is preset to between 1-5 and 3 mm. (the sensitivity discs have a tendency to float when dropped from too great a height) by rotation of a knurled ring 35 along a measured thread on extension piece 34. Three equally spaced radial ribs 51a extending between the annular shoulders 51 and 52 of the ring engage the rim of the Petri dish. Vessels of other sizes are accommodated by inverting the ring to present its flat surface.
