PURPOSE: An automatic contact stress correction apparatus of a fuel cell stack is provided to maintain the contact stress in the stack constantly regardless of the various conditions which change in the stack by controlling the fastening pressure which is the same as the compression pressure applied to the laminated cells. CONSTITUTION: An automatic contact stress correction apparatus of a fuel cell stack comprises: a length change amount detecting means(31) for detecting the length change amount of a coupling band(13) for fastening unit cells(11) and an end-plate(12) in the fuel cell stack(10); a controller which sends out a control signal for the automatic correction of the contact stress in the stack based on the detected length change; and a fastening pressure control device(33) which controls the fastening pressure and the contact stress in the stack applied to the cells of the stack through the end-plate being installed between a frame(20) and the end-plate.
