PURPOSE: A system for providing a user interface according to a channel genre in a digital cable broadcast system and a method thereof are provided to standardize channel genre/type information according to a broadcast channel and transmit the channel genre/type information by PSIP(Program and System Information Protocol)/SI data, thereby providing various additional services to a viewer. CONSTITUTION: A channel genre information input unit(111) inputs channel genre information about a broadcast channel. A channel genre information managing unit(112) manages the channel genre information. A channel type information setting unit(113) receives channel type information and manages a set reference. A UI(User Interface) setup information unit(115) stores and manages UI data corresponding to references of the channel genre and type information. A genre information processing unit(114) processes channel genre and type information about the broadcast channel and corresponding UI data by the set reference. |
