PURPOSE: A wireless power transmission apparatus and a method thereof are provided to concentrate energy transfer on a wireless power receiving apparatus by using a specific relay coil, thereby reducing magnetic field generation. CONSTITUTION: A wireless power transmission apparatus comprises a transmission part, a detection part(14), and a controller(16). The transmission part includes a transmission coil(21), a transmission resonance coil(22), and a plurality of relay coils(60-1~9). The transmission resonance coil transmits power received from the transmission coil. The plurality of relay coils is placed in the transmission resonance coil to relay the power. The detection part detects a position of the wireless power receiving apparatus placed on the transmission part. The controller determines a relay coil corresponding to the position of the wireless power receiving apparatus and performs control operation to transmit power through the relay coil.
