1,193,596. Separation of americium and curium. UNITED STATES ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION. 4 Feb., 1969 [27 March, 1968], No. 5895/69. Heading G6R. Americium and curium values present in a nitric acid solution are separated from one another and from other actinides and lanthanides by passing the solution through a first cation exchange resin, eluting with diethylenetriamine penta-acetic acid (DTPA) solution, passing the eluate through a second cation exchange resin in the zinc form to separate the constituents into bands, eluting the band containing Am and Cm with DTPA, and separating the Am and Cm from each other by absorbing on a third resin bed and eluting with nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA) solution. In treating a nitric acid nuclear fuel reprocessing waste solution, aqueous solutions of DTPA and NTA are used.
|
