1,193,751. Locking nuts. G. MONTICELLI. 29 Jan., 1968 [1 Feb., 1967], No. 4534/68. Heading F2H. A self-locking resilient nut comprises a polygonal housing 1 open at least at one end for passage of a screw there into and containing at least one resilient annular dished plate 3, internally contoured for screwing on to a screw 7, externally contoured to rotate fast with the housing 1 containing it and disposed between end plates 2, 4, which are externally contoured to engage the housing 1 and which are flat on one side while being contoured on the other to fit the abutting surface of a resilient plate 3. The housing 1 is formed of sheet metal with lugs 5 which are bent inward to retain the plates 2, 3, 4 after insertion. The resilient plates 3 forming an internal thread are of hardened steel or after metal and each has an internal radial notch where it is bent in opposite directions to form the thread.
