PURPOSE: A secondary battery is provided to prevent the fracture of an electrode assembly and to prevent the deformation of an electrode assembly. CONSTITUTION: A prismatic secondary battery(101) comprises an electrode assembly(10); a case mounted in the electrode assembly(26); a cap plate(31) including a short side and a long side; and an electrode terminal(21,22) protruded to the outside of the case; and a lower insulating unit(60,70) which is located between the electrode assembly and electrode terminal, and includes a body part and a protrusion. The body part of the lower insulating unit comprises a slope formed in a direction parallel to the short side of the cap plate. The protrusion comprises a slope formed in a direction parallel to the short of the cap plate.
