PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to prevent water permeation through an interface between a common electrode and a sealer and water permeation through an interface between an overcoat film and the common electrode by unevenness formed on the common electrode and the overcoat film. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal display device includes a TFT(Thin Film Transistor) panel(100), a common electrode panel(200), and a sealer(310). The common electrode panel includes a second substrate(210), a light shielding member(220), color filters(230R,230G,230B), a dummy color filter(235), an overcoat film(250), and a common electrode(270). Unevenness is formed on a surface of the overcoat film corresponding to surrounding areas of the second substrate. The common electrode is placed on the overcoat film.
