<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic EL element securing moisture barrier properties, capable of being reduced in thickness, and further capable of suppressing an occurrence of a short circuit by performing self-repair. <P>SOLUTION: An organic EL element 3 includes: a transparent electrode 4; a functional layer 7 formed on the transparent electrode 4 and including at least an organic light emitting layer; and a back-face electrode 9 formed on the functional layer 7. In the organic EL element, a barrier layer 8 having at least moisture barrier properties is formed so as to be held by the back-face electrode 9. The barrier layer 8 has a film thickness of 50 nm or less and a conduction band energy level of 2.0-5.5 eV. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
